Community-based disaster risk management and contingency plans were honed at a CFSI workshop held in Bokod municipality in the Philippine province of Benguet in the last week of January.

The capacity-building workshop, held in conjunction with the Bokod Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, saw participation from representatives of the Office of Civil Defense – Cordillera Administrative Region, as well as chairpersons and members of 10 Bokod barangay DRRM Committees.

The workshop enabled participants to identify the most effective forms of disaster risk reduction, which in turn helped them to further develop their own plans to address potential worst-case scenarios, which will be incorporated into their individual 2014 contingency plans.
