It’s never too late to celebrate birthdays!

It was a fun-filled day as one hundred eighty (180) Sama Bajaus from Rio Hondo and Kasanyangan happily sang the birthday song as they received their Certificate of Live Birth (COLB) during the Ceremonial Handover of Birth Certificates held 22 October 2019.

The activity, organized by the Sama Bajau support group for birth registration and literacy under the Sama Bajau Capacity Strengthening Project (SBCSP), was graced by Mr. Henrico L. Guminao, Regional Director of NCIP Region IX, Ms. Christine De Leon from the Office of the Civil Registrar, Ms. Muslima Mahari and Ms. Lerma Blen from the Philippine Statistics Authority.

Beneficiaries fondly sang the Happy Birthday song at the end of the activity as for them, they now have birthdays to celebrate. Delma Manias, one of the recipients of COLB said, “I’m 42 years old now and I just got my birth registration. All thanks to CFSI and its partners. I am very happy also that my children all got their birth registration already.”

This effort is part of the implementation of SBCSP by the Community and Family Services International (CFSI) with funding support from the European Union (EU).
