Two communities in Camp Omar formally accepted the agri-facility building with a solar dryer sub-project and a corn sheller equipment during the turn-over rites held on 06 October and 15 October, respectively.
These communities are Barangay Talibadok in Datu Hoffer and Barangay Saniag in Ampatuan, which are both part of the operation areas of Community and Family Services International (CFSI) in Maguindanao Province, particularly through its Mindanao Trust Fund-Reconstruction and Development Project Phase II (MTF-RDP/2).
Representatives from project partners were present to grace the ceremony. Among the attendees were the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), Joint Task Forces on Camps Transformation (JTFCT), Local Government Units (LGUs), People’s Organizations (PO), and private contractors.
The sub-project in Barangay Talibadok costs Php 2.7 million while the one in Barangay Saniag is worth Php 2.9 million. Both sub-projects were constructed by Ilon Multi-builders Company which served as the contract service providers of the said projects.
The solar dryer, with its warehouse component, and the corn sheller equipment will create more convenience for farmers in both barangays in terms of storage and processing of rice and corn harvests. The advent of the project would minimize the time to transport their crops to the neighboring areas and it is assumed that production will be increasing.
The sub-projects are part of the initiatives of MTF-RDP/2, a program partnership agreement between CFSI and BDA. Its implementation is in accordance with the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB).
The program seeks to improve access to the basic socio-economic infrastructure of identified communities in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao, particularly the six previously acknowledged camps of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) such as Camp Abubakar as-Siddique, Camp Badre, Camp Bilal, Camp Bushra Somiyorang, Camp Omar, and Camp Rajamuda.
The MTF is a multi-donor trust fund supported by benefactors such as the European Union, the government of Sweden, Australia, Canada, United States, New Zealand, and the World Bank. CFSI functions as Trust Fund Recipient of the MTF. #
