Talk about the first day high!

Last 18 June 2019 was the first day of learning sessions of the Basic Literacy Program for Adults (BLPA) for Sama Bajaus. All the Sama learners were delighted as they received their school kits. The first batch of 150 adult learners expressed their excitement to learn and to complete the BLPA, just like how their children graduate from school. They further shared thinking how they too, despite their age, would have their own graduation celebration in their homes after their completion exercises.

The BLPA for Sama Bajaus is being conducted through a joint effort with the Department of Education (DepEd) Division Office. This is in part of the Sama Bajau Capacity Strengthening Project (SBCSP) of Community and Family Services International (CFSI), with funding support from the European Union (EU), which aims to provide basic and functional knowledge and skills contributing to the literacy rates among Sama Bajaus.

The Instructional Managers (IM) of the BLPA had their meet and greet activity on 13 June 2019, which was followed by the classes accordingly. Mr. Abdulsali Lim, one of the IMs, gave words of encouragement for the learners during the meet and greet.

The learning sessions of the first batch for BLPA are expected to run until August 2019. This effort is part of the SBCSP being implemented by CFSI with funding support from the EU.
