To maximise partnerships and collaborative work, Community and Family Services International (CFSI) and the European Union (EU) convened all its stakeholders in the Waling-Waling 3, Garden Orchid Hotel from 9:00 to 12:00 for the Sama Bajau Capacity Strengthening Project (SBCSP): Inception Workshop.
In attendance were representatives of different government agencies in Zamboanga City. During the workshop, CFSI presented the SBCSP, its rationale, objectives, and expected outcomes. Stakeholders and partners from the government sector also identified their roles and responsibilities in the project as members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the SBCSP. As a symbol of their commitment of support, partner agencies concluded the event with a ceremonial signing of the Pledge of Partners’ Commitment and Support.
The Same Bajau Capacity Strengthening Project (SBCSP) is funded by the European Union and is implemented by CFSI. This aims to support vulnerable Sama Bajau families and address their risks to statelessness. EU’s assistance will provide approximately 1,500 individuals with capacity strengthening activities on civil, human, and political rights, trainings on environmentally sustainable income-generating activities, and livelihood starter kits.
The SBCSP will run from 01 January 2019 to 31 December covering the areas of Rio Hondo, Kasanyangan and Area Blanco of Zamboanga City.
