CFSI has established a presence in Guiuan, Eastern Samar, where Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) first made land. There is widespread devastation throughout Guiuan, however the local government is well prepared and well organized, and the population is strong and resilient.
The majority of Guiuan’s 47,087 residents are doing all they can to help the town get back on its feet. But people still need assistance. The scale of the disaster is enormous; the typhoon affected more than 13 million people, displaced more than 4 million, left thousands dead, and destroyed almost all homes and buildings in its path.
