CFSI participated at the Viet Nam National Conference on Social Work, held in Da Nang, from 31 July through 01 August 2014. Through its Social Work Education Project in Viet Nam (SWEP-Viet Nam), CFSI is deeply involved in efforts to strengthen and build human resources in social work throughout the country. Government officials, as well as other key stakeholders, repeatedly made positive references to CFSI throughout the Conference, which was organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA). Together with other partner institutions, CFSI committed to support the development of the social work profession in Viet Nam through 2010.
The aim of the Conference was to assess progress being made in implementing Decision 32, Viet Nam’s national program to develop the social work profession, which was launched in 2010. Decision 32 was promulgated to develop a legal framework for the development of social work profession; improve knowledge and skills of social work professionals and para-professionals; develop social work services; and increase knowledge and understanding within society about the role of the social work profession.
In support of this national undertaking, CFSI has been implementing SWEP-Viet Nam since 2010 with the support of The Atlantic Philanthropies. Other key partners include MOLISA, the University of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs (ULSA), the Graduate Academy of Social Sciences (GASS), Viet Nam Women’s Academy (VWA), Center for Social Work and Community Development Research and Consultancy (SRDC), the United Nation’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and Manila-based Asian Social Institute (ASI).
