On 12 to 13 February 2019, Community and Family Services International (CFSI) conducted the Community Dialogue Facilitators (CDFs) Training and Planning Workshop at Celadon Hotel, Iligan City under the Community Engagement for Children Project (CECP).
The said training aims to equip the CDFs with skills to facilitate Focused Group Discussions (FGD) in the target municipalities of CECP, namely: Masiu, Balindong, and Saguiaran in the province of Lanao del Sur.
Conducting the FGDs are also a way for the communities to be informed of children’s rights, according to Jalil Usman, CECP Project Coordinator. Key skills covered in the training included the administration of FGD questionnaires, documentation, basic community organizing, and the use of Level-3 indicator tools.
CECP is funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and aims to assess issues on children’s rights and protection issues. For CECP, CFSI also works with the Maranao People Development Center, Inc. (MARADECA), ICAN, Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS), and Synergia where CFSI is the lead agency.
