Community members of Barangay Tuayan, Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao celebrated the completion of another Socio-Economic Infrastructure under the Mindanao Trust Fund Reconstruction and Development Project Phase II (MTF-RDP/2).
In the ceremonial turn-over and ribbon-cutting ceremony held on 20 April 2019, Mr. Abdullah Ibrahim, Darul Wihda People’s Organization President, formally accepted the One (1) Unit Warehouse with Solar Dryer, the second sub-project completed for the said community. “I want to express my gratitude to all those who have made these projects possible,” Ibrahim said. “The community cannot hide their joy over these developments in our Barangay.”
Hon. Alimudin Maguid, the Barangay Kagawad, also graced the event on behalf of Barangay Chairman Abdulmoen Ampatuan. In his message, he assured the commitment of the Office of the Barangay to support the project and its contribution in the development of the community.
Officials and representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU), Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), Community and Family Services International (CFSI), Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), Joint Task Forces on Camp Transformation (JTFCT), People’s Organizations (PO), private contractors and others were in attendance.
“Aside from the completion of this project, may we not forget also the values and attitudes we have gained from these experiences,” said Professor Abdul Makakena, JTFCT Member, in his inspirational speech.
JTFCT member Muslimin Sapal delivered the closing remarks with words of encouragement. “I hope this project will lead towards more progress in our community,” he noted.
It is envisaged that the onset of the project will increase the production of agricultural goods. Having the warehouse will create more convenience in terms of storing and processing of rice and corn harvest for farming communities in the Barangay. Instead of taking hours to transport their harvests to the neighbouring town, the advent of the Warehouse with the Solar Dryer will reduce time and cost consumption The sub-project, amounting to a total of Php 1,454,184.40, was built by the KLD Engineering Construction.
Barangay Tuayan is under Camp Omar, one of the six previously acknowledged camps of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) along with Camp Abubakar as-Siddique, Camp Bilal, Camp Bushra, Camp Badre and Camp Rajamuda.
These ventures are in line with the initiatives under MTF-RDP/2, a project partnership agreement between the Community and Family Services International (CFSI) and the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), funded by The World Bank through the Mindanao Trust Fund (MTF),.
The MTF-RDP/2 implementation is in accordance with the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB) which seeks to improve access of identified beneficiary communities in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao to basic socio-economic infrastructure and alternative learning system.
The MTF is a multi-donor trust fund supported by benefactors such as the European Union, the government of Sweden, Australia, Canada, United States, New Zealand and the World Bank. The World Bank functions as Trust Fund Administrator of the MTF.
In support to the objectives of the MTF-RDP/2, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) provided complementary assistance directly to CFSI through the project referred to as “Supporting Access to Basic Services and Building Institutional Capacity in Conflict Affected Areas in Mindanao.”
