CFSI’s Park Avenue Initiative (PAI) helped to socially and economically empower families from Pasay City in Metro Manila at a three-day workshop entitled “Family Reflection for Families of Concerns”, held from October 13-15 at Tierra De Oro Resort-Hotel in San Pablo City, Laguna.
Facilitated by PAI, a total of 42 participants (representing 21 families) and 16 community support workers took part in the workshop, which was aimed at identifying families’ social and economic strengths and weaknesses, exploring issues related to communication and practices, and promoting an understanding of family relationships and systems.
The overall objective of the workshop was for the participants to develop a realistic and achievable family plan agreed upon by other family members that included ways to improve familial relationships and means of livelihood support.
As a follow-up to the workshop, community support workers will pay regular visits to the families to evaluate the implementation of their plans.
“I am grateful to CFSI for organising this activity,” said Adelina Oxiana from Barangay 88. “I learned many beautiful things about family as the smallest institution of society.”
“I learned my responsibility as a child,” said Rohanie Macabantog from Barangay 92. “I know that I can apply all the things that I learned from here.”
