After receiving post-harvest cooking materials from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), members of the Sama Bajau Women’s Group actively participated in a Two-Day Food Processing Training conducted by Office of the City Agriculture (OCA) in Zamboanga City from 19 to 20 November. Various recipes were introduced and processed out of fish and seaweeds like fish balls, tempura, spicy dilis, seaweeds crackers, and seaweed noodles.
Norsa Sabdani, a mother of five, was among the participants of the training. As a food vendor herself, she was pleasantly surprised to learn about new recipes using their staple ingredients such as seaweeds. “It was nice learning new skills that will add to my source of income,” Norsa shared, “To OCA team, thank you for the knowledge imparted. To CFSI, thank you for the giving us women the chance to learn.”
This activity was done under the Sama Bajau Capacity Strengthening Project (SBCSP), a project being implemented by CFSI with funding support from the EU which is aimed at contributing in reducing risks of statelessness among Sama Bajaus.
