On 26 February 2020, UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of IDPs Cecilia Jiminez-Damary and UNHCR Country Representative Shinji Kubo visited two sites of the Mindanao Protection Project (MPP) in Maguindanao.
Populations from both Brgy. Salman in Ampatuan and Brgy. Langgapan in Sultan sa Barongis have experienced repeated displacements in the past decades. To gather baseline information on protection risks and vulnerabilities, CFSI conducted Municipal Protection Profiling for both sites in 2019. The results helped inform CFSI in implementing Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) to facilitate improved productivity among the identified beneficiaries.
The MPP is implemented by CFSI in partnership with UNHCR. It aims to address the immediate protection needs of people affected by armed conflict and facilitates the rapid integration and rehabilitation of IDPs and returnees in Central and Northern Mindanao, and island provinces through the implementation of QIPs and protection monitoring trainings.
