CFSI seeks qualified, experienced applicants with diverse backgrounds for the following post under Child Protection Capacity Project (CPCP), based in Sulu and Lanao del Sur.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Community Organizer will ensure social preparation and other project activities in his/her area of the assignment are conducted in a timely and effective manner.
- S/he will work closely with the project team and other stakeholders, including youth networks, government partners and community leaders.
- S/he will employ participatory processes with project beneficiaries to assess needs, conduct response and advocacy efforts, and contribute to local capacity strengthening in their respective areas in close coordination and collaboration with all key stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least a bachelor’s degree, and preferably a master’s, in Social Work, Community Development, Economics, Psychology, Nursing, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Ideally licensed in the respective field. Minimum three (3) years of experience in community organizing/development including, preferably, work with diverse groups of people in areas devastated by armed conflict and/or disaster.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Strong analytical and relationship-building skills.
- Good verbal and written proficiency in English is required, ideally complementing fluency in Tagalog, Sama Bajau, Tausug, and Maranao dialects.
- Previous experience in child protection and advocacy work, and knowledge of the socio-political dynamics in the Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Lanao Areas.
- An initiative-taking and rigorous approach to problem-solving and professional responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Proficient with personal computers and appropriate software.
- Willing to travel extensively in remote areas.
- Willing to work beyond the normal work hours, to deliver own work expectations.
