ProbeTV produced these two videos that feature CFSI in Mindanao, Philippines. Each video clip is in Tagalog, lasts about three minutes long, and draws attention to the plight of communities displaced by armed conflict.

In “Voices of Courage”, Deputy Director for Philippine Programme Noraida Abdullah Karim speaks about the struggles and victories of women and mothers in areas affected by conflict in Mindanao. In 2007, Noraida was recognized by the New York City-based Women’s Refugee Commission with the “Voice of Courage” award for her outstanding service to the communities displaced by the conflict.

“Teacher Dhats” tells the story of Guiamelon Andie, who has served for many years as a full-time teacher at the Inug-Ug Elementary School in Pagalungan, Maguindanao. CFSI helped establish the school in 2002 through the Arms Are for Hugging Project. From their simple beginnings as makeshift classrooms, the school will celebrate its tenth year of operation in October 2012.

CFSI has been working in Mindanao since 2001, with a focus on humanitarian assistance, peacebuilding, and social development projects. We are grateful to ProbeTV for contributing to CFSI’s advocacy efforts on behalf of communities displaced by armed conflict.
