Kadafi Tunggal is a 32-year-old Instructional Manager of Alternative Learning System 2.0 (ALS 2.0) under the Mindanao Trust Fund-Reconstruction and Development Project Phase 2 (MTF-RDP/2) of Community and Family Services International (CFSI).

With more than two years of experience in this field, he aims to contribute to reaching his fellow Bangsamoro residing in the remote parts of the six previously acknowledged camps of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the service areas of the Project.

The current pandemic adds to their struggle in meeting their deliverables due to the guidelines set by the National Government on assemblies, including the conduct of face-to-face sessions. But because of Kadafi’s dedication, he made sure that his duties were still on track even before authorities hand over alternative strategies.

Serving not only his Bangsamoro brethren but also Indigenous People (IP) from the community, he sees to it that he manages to reach and inform his learners on the status of their learning sessions. Some of these learners, especially the IPs, do not have stable access to internet connection due to their location. Difficult as it may seem, Kadafi strides through the farthermost part of the community to deliver learning.

“Our tasks as Instructional Managers became more challenging in this kind of situation. But these challenges are what pushes us to deliver,” Kadafi said. “I need to be persistent knowing that there are people who are eager to learn, and their learning achievement depends on how I perform,” he added.

Despite the challenges caused by the pandemic, ALS 2.0 served as an effective medium that bonds and guarantees MTF-RDP/2’s presence in the camp communities. New and alternative modalities were laid down that IMs started to roll-out depending on the prevailing camp situation. Additional learning materials were distributed to aid the learning sessions amidst COVID-19 restrictions. #
